The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor will be equipped with an Early Earthquake Detection System which is based on Japanese Shinkansen technology to ensure the safety of passengers and critical infrastructure during earthquakes. Twenty-eight (28) seismometers will be installed along the alignment with eight in Maharashtra and fourteen in Gujarat. The system will detect earthquake induced tremors through primary waves and enable an automatic power shutdown which will led the train to activate Emergency Brakes for safety.
