What is the meaning of train ticket number, waiting list-PNR? Know important information related to railway

Barring lockdown or pandemic, about 5 lakh railway tickets are booked online daily through IRCTC. At the same time, the number of tickets booked through the window is many times more. A seat/berth is required to go anywhere by train. To get a berth, a reservation has to be done. All of us must have made reservations for the sleeper, AC, chair car or second seating at some time, but have you ever tried to know what is written in your train ticket. How can this information work for you? Today railways and trains are giving information related to tickets, which can prove beneficial for you.

Reservation Methods
Many people still feel that the reservation can be done only by putting it in the ticket line. For your information, let us tell you that there are three ways to make a reservation.

  1. Going to the Ticket window
  2. E-Reservation from online IRCTC site
  3. Eye Reservation

What is an e-ticket?
Many times people feel that e-reservation and i-reservation are the same. Many do not even know about I-Reservation. Both E and I reservations are booked online. However, there is a slight difference between the two. While travelling with an e-ticket, you will have to carry ID proof. This ticket is cancelled if waiting is not cleared. This is a one-way fake ticket.

What is an I-ticket?
If you want a physical ticket and also want to avoid going to the ticket window, then you should take an I-ticket. You do not need to show any ID proof when travelling with this ticket. The I-ticket reaches the post at the given address. Booking for an I-ticket has to be done three days before the journey, while an e-ticket can be taken a few hours before the journey. For an I-ticket, you also have to pay postage, while in an e-ticket, your work can also be done through printout or SMS.

PNR
Everyone must have heard the PNR number. Whether it is about ticket checking or waiting check, PNR number is the most important part of your ticket. This number is on the top left side of the reservation ticket. This number is unique and is called Passenger Name Record Number. This ticket is yours and you are travelling on it. This thing is ascertained from this number. The PNR number of your ticket is also with TC, which is used to check your ticket.

Train number
The second most important number in the ticket is the train number. A deep secret is hidden behind this number. Train number gives you the information of the train route. If the first digit of the train number written on your reservation ticket is 0, then you are going to travel in summer special, holiday special or another special train. If the first digit is 1 or 2, then there is a long-distance train which includes trains like Rajdhani and Shatabdi. Train numbers starting from number 3 are the local trains of Kolkata. The train number starting from number 4 is for the rail services of metro cities like Delhi, Chennai, Secunderabad. Number 5 is for the traditional type of trains. Trains starting at number 6 are memu and demos starting from number 7. The number of recently reserved trains is number 8 and trains starting from number 9 belong to Mumbai Local.

There are many more important information in the train ticket. While waiting for tickets, it is a must to see which waiting list it is on. Waiting lists also vary.

RLWL: It has a full form remote location waiting list. It is written when there is a station between two big stations where more trains are not available, in such a situation, the passenger there will be given first seat on any cancellation.

CKWL: This is the most interesting waiting list. You are placed in the CKWL when you take a ticket in an instant. If you have got waiting in the instant then you are in CKWL. Generally, if this waiting list is confirmed to be 10.
