Train Braking System is complexed system in the Indian Railways to describe the amtter fully can make a danger to Our Indian Railways so will be explain it to you in a simple way.As you all know that Train Braking System not only relies upon on the Locomotive of the train but it work on the coaches which is attached with the pipes. In these pipes air pressure is maintained to control which means that full system depends on air.
So Lets First discuss about the Vaccum Brake system in which many things are attached first is Exhauster which works by putting all the air out from the brake pipe and create a vaccum in the brake cylinder, second is the driver brake valve with which Locopilot controls the braking system, third is the high vaccum reserver that helps to create a vaccum if there is a leakage in the brake cylinder, the main parts is the brake cylinder in which all the system of brake worksBrake Cylinder contains piston which controls the brake pad to operated by releasing or applying to the wheels of the train.
Now Lets discuss about the working of the Vaccum brake that how it works.Vaccum Brake System works on the two conditions First is when the brake is in the release mode in which exhauster puts all the air out from the pipe there by creating a vaccum in the brake cylinder the piston inside it gets down there by releasing the brake pad from the wheels of the train.Second is the condition when the drives controls the brake valve to apply the brake then he pulls it towards the apply of brake with which the air gets inside the brake cylinder and pulls the piston upwards that helps the brake to be in its working mode.
By this technique Vaccum Braking system works but it is slow in its working that is why now the railways are changing this vaccum braking syatem to Air braking system. This system was slow because when the vaccum was created in this system it took very much time for the brakes to work and also when the vaccume was released from the brake cylinder the process took time to complete.
Lets Dicuss about the Air braking system of the Indian Railways which is just opposite of the Vaccum Braking system. Its components includes the compressor which is used to maintain the air pressure of 5.6 kgs in the brake pipes,Driver Brake Valve which is used to operate the braking system, Auxiliary Reserver which helps to maintain the air pressure if there is leakage in the pipes,Triple Valve which is used to operate the brakes ,Brake cylinder and Brake Shoe.
The Working of the Air Braking System is as such there are two conditions same as before First is when the brake is in release mode in which we put the air in the compressor by maintaining the air pressure of 5.6 kg in the pipe which makes the piston outwards which help in the release of Brakes.Second is the condition when the drives wants to apply the brake controls the brake valve by releasing pressure the piston gets upwards by applying the brake in the working mode.
This is how the Air braking system works in the Indian Railways which took less time for the brake to be applied there by helping Railways to be puntual to complete their journey on time.
