Today we will discuss in this post that how much diesel does the Locomotive consumes and how much mileage does the diesel Locomotive provide while running on the tracks of the Indian Railways. In the present time there are two types of diesel Locomotives which are being used in the Indian Railways those are ALCO and EMD.
Welcome to RailSuvidha :- The Hotspot of Indian Railways were we come up with the information of the Events around the Indian Railways which includes blogs, facts, news etc.
Diesel Locomotive mileage is not always the same because it depends on many factors of its working in the Indian Railways. The factors on which the Diesel Locomotive mileage depends include the type of locomotive, speed,Gradient etc which are responsible in creating the maximum mileage on the routes of the Indian Railways.
But Generally the mileage of the Diesel Locomotive is calculated by the following manner that to carry the load of 1000 ton for 1 kilometre the amount of diesel required is 3 litres. As we Look upon like this on the passenger train to carry 24-25 Coaches for 1 kilometre the amount of diesel consumed is 6-8 litres.
Similarly for the Goods train to carry the load for 1 kilometre the amount of diesel consumed is 10-12 litres. So if you want to calculate the amount of diesel consumed per hour then you first need to know that how much distance is covered by the Diesel Locomotive per hour in order to calculate on the tracks of the Indian Railways.
To Know the amount of diesel consumed per hour by the Locomotive it is calculated that the Locomotive which run it is full working speed then it consumes a total amount from 420-600 litres of diesel per hour. And if the Locomotive is started and is in the standing position then it consumes around 20-24 litres of diesel.
By these calculations now you all must have known the amount of diesel consumed by the Diesel Locomotive as the mileage depends on many factors to run on the routes of Indian Railways. The post provides us the information of the diesel consumed by the Diesel Locomotives used in the Indian Railways.
