How Indian Railways Coaches and engines reached Kashmir Valley

Indian Railways have built railway lines for the people of the country to facilitate transportation from one place to a different. As we’ve already posted a blog on the history of Srinagar terminal during which we discussed about the routes of the Indian Railways that how can an individual reach Srinagar within the Kashmir Valley.

Indian Railways have built two routes :- first route starts from Jammu to Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and second route from Banihal to Baramulla.Between this route 130 kilometres railway line isn’t completed. So this arises an issue on the mind that how the railway engines and coaches reach Srinagar terminal is that the route isn’t complete.

Jammu – Baramulla Section which is roofed all around by mountains and rivers during which the railways are fully operated from Jammu to Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. When the Railway line isn’t complete so it’s three possibilities.First possibility is that the fabric would are taken there and therefore the manufacturing was done or Second possibility is that the train coaches and engines were taken seperately through trucks by roadways and Third possibility is that the train was taken there through a cargo plane.

Lets Discuss about the primary option during this were the fabric was taken and therefore the manufacturing of the train was done isn’t possible as Indian Railways doesn’t have any manufacturing unit at Srinagar terminal. Now over to the third option were the train was taken through an Antonov cargo plane which is feasible because it had been an awfully big plane that may carry an entire train in it but this caused the railways to built a much bigger runway that’s why this doesn’t happen.

The best suitable option for it had been that the train was taken seperately by roadways during which the train coaches and engines were carried through truch to achieve their destination. The Railway Unit ICF Chennai manufactured coaches and engines for the Srinagar terminal so they will be easily taken through trucks by road.

The Bogis and Coaches were seperated to be taken, the contract of this train was taken by ABC India Limited Cargo Company to require the units till Srinagar Budgam. For this a special quite truck was designed of 460 horsepower and 36 tyres which can be suitable to require it to the station easily.

When this train was carried through trucks by road all the trucks running were done by-side so this truck can pass easily. This process gathered most people to possess a glance on how the train was carried. When the truck was passing through rivers a special bridge was designed by side so the truck can pass easily.

By most struggle the train coaches and engines were carried by roadways till the Srinagar terminal so its Operations can be carried on.
