The Train That Has Seen India’s History

Punjab Mail is not just a train but a living witness of India’s past and present. It is the oldest running passenger train in the country having completed 109 years of service in 2023. It started as a luxury train for the British officials in 1912, travelling from Bombay to Peshawar.

Later, it became a daily service for the common people, connecting Mumbai and Firozpur Cantonment. It has seen the changes in India’s geography, politics, culture, and economy over the decades. Today it covers a distance of 1,930 km in 34 hours and 15 minutes, carrying the legacy of India’s oldest train.
